CertiK, a blockchain security company, has highlighted a potential compromise of the private keys linked with PlayDapp, a play-to-earn (P2E) game that operates on the Ethereum platform.
This security breach resulted in the illicit inclusion of a new token creation address, leading to the generation of 200 million PLA tokens. As a consequence of this breach, the value of PLA tokens dropped by nearly 10%, marking its lowest point since October.
PlayDapp is yet to issue an official statement regarding this incident.
According to DappRadar, the total asset value on PlayDapp has decreased by roughly 14% since the breach, despite a notable increase in the number of unique active wallets today.
This event emphasizes the ongoing difficulties faced by web3 projects in protecting their assets from unauthorized access and tampering.
PlayDapp operates within the blockchain gaming ecosystem, providing a platform for the purchase, sale, and exchange of NFTs and other in-game assets by gamers and developers.
The platform establishes a cross-game universe, enabling assets from one game to be utilized in another, potentially enhancing their functionality.
